Guelph police report that a man faces assault and weapons charges after a knife was allegedly pulled Wednesday on two strangers.

Just after 2 p.m. police were called to a business on Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue West. A male reported he and another male were on scene to do some work at the business when someone approached their vehicle and began pointing a laser pointer at them. The males exited the vehicle to confront the unknown man, who pulled out a knife and pointed it at them while uttering threats.

Officers arrived a short time later and located the person in the area. Investigation revealed he is bound by bail conditions including a term banning him from possessing weapons.

A 30-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering death threats and failing to comply with a release order. He was held for a bail hearing Thursday.
