Man arrested after reportedly returning to the scene of the crime

Police recovered $2,000 worth of tools taken earlier

A Guelph male was arrested Friday after returning to the scene of an alleged break and enter while the victim was on the phone with police.

Last Wednesday, the victim called police to report a theft of tools from a downtown building which is under construction. A male had entered a storage room and removed approximately $2,000 worth of tools. On Friday, a Guelph police officer was on the phone with the victim getting more information when the male returned to the scene and tried to get inside.

Officers attended and arrested the male. A 36-year-old Guelph male is charged with break and enter, attempt break and enter, possessing stolen property, trafficking property obtained by crime and breach of probation. He will appear in a Guelph court Aug. 10.

The tools were recovered.
