Police are investigating after a Guelph man was attacked by a stranger while waiting for a bus after he refused to give the other man a cigarette.

Approximately 3:15 p.m. Monday police were called to Bullfrog Plaza on Eramosa Road where they found a man in his 30s missing a tooth and bleeding from the forehead.

Investigation revealed the victim was waiting for a bus when he was approached by a younger male who asked for a cigarette, but refused as the other male appeared underage. The subject began walking away, then turned and struck the victim several times from behind. The victim fell to the ground, striking his head.

A witness intervened and the subject got into his car and left the area. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment.

The suspect was described as an Asian male, approximately 5’7” with a slim build, short black hair and a slight moustache. He was driving a blue Honda Civic.
