A Guelph man faces charges after a Guelph Police officer was reportedly kicked in the face during an arrest Friday, say Guelph police.

Just after 1 p.m. Friday, officers were downtown when they located a man they knew to be wanted for missing court on outstanding charges including possessing a weapon and obstruct police.

The man was arrested, but began to struggle with officers, says the report, during which one of the officers was kicked in the face. He was not injured.

A 31-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault police and failing to attend court. He was held for a bail hearing and has been released to appear in a Guelph court.
