Man charged with selling fentanyl to undercover police officer

Guelph police report a male who was being sought by police following a trafficking investigation last fall has been arrested.

Last the Guelph Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit began an investigation into the trafficking of controlled substances throughout the city. During the investigation, undercover officers purchased fentanyl and cocaine from two parties.

On Dec. 3, 2020, a search warrant was executed at an address on Silvercreek Parkway North. Officers seized a quantity of fentanyl and evidence of trafficking including a functioning digital scale and empty packaging.

A 43-year-old Guelph female was arrested at that time, however a male who allegedly had completed one of the transactions with an undercover officer was not located and a warrant was taken out for his arrest.

On Tuesday morning, police responded to check the well being of a male sitting behind a business on Stone Road West. Investigation revealed the male was wanted on the outstanding warrant.

A 24-year-old Guelph male is charged with two counts of possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking and breaching probation. He was held for a bail hearing Wednesday.
