A Guelph male faces several charges after he was caught Monday passed out in his heavily-damaged motor vehicle.

Police were informed just after 9 a.m. about a damaged vehicle parked across several spots in a parking lot on Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue West. When officers arrived a male quickly exited the vehicle and was showing obvious signs of drug impairment, including rapid speech and an inability to answer simple questions.

Inside the vehicle, officers observed drug paraphernalia including several glass pipes with residue, tin foil and butane lighters. The male was arrested for impaired driving. A search of the vehicle later uncovered quantities of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine and crack cocaine.

Officers demanded a sample of the male’s blood for analysis, which he ultimately refused to provide.

A 29-year-old Guelph male is charged with impaired operation, failing to comply with a demand and three counts of possessing a controlled substance. He will appear in a Guelph court August 20.
