Guelph Police say a man scared off a potential burglar Monday when he noticed him trying to enter his home through a basement window.

Police say that at around 11 p.m. a man was in the basement of his residence near the Stevenson Street North/Speedvale Avenue East intersection when he saw a foot enter through his basement window.

The basement window was open with the blinds shut. Entry was gained as the screen was removed from the outside, slightly bending it.

The male yelled out and the responsible person fled the area. Police were contacted for assistance and searched the area, but the responsible person was not located.
