A Guelph man woke up early Thursday morning to find a stranger in his bedroom who had apparently gained entry through a balcony.

Guelph Police report that on Thursday at 12:50 a.m. they were notified that a man woke up to find an unknown male in his bedroom of his residence near the intersection of Grange Street and Stevenson Street.

The man gained entry through the bedroom balcony’s unlocked door. Please note that the bedroom and balcony are on the second level of the residence.

The resident told the man to leave, he exited back out through the balcony door and fled the area. Nothing was taken and nothing was damaged.

The man is described as caucasian, around 30 years old, six-foot-tall, slim build and wearing pants that had a chain connecting his front pocket to his back pocket.

Just prior to this incident, at 12:42 a.m., police received another call about a suspicious man in the backyard of a nearby residence. The man fled the area shortly after being seen. Nothing was taken and nothing was damaged.

That person is described as wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans and carrying a large shovel with a large handle.

In both incidents, police searched the area, however the person was not located.

Please note that it’s unclear at this time if the same person is responsible for both incidents.
