Guelph Police Service dealt with 237 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Break and enter - arrest
On April 28, 2019 at approximately 2:50 a.m., the Guelph Police went a Water Street residence for a break and enter. The resident had returned home to find a man inside the home. The resident detained the man until police arrived and he was arrested.

The 18-year-old Guelph man has been charged with break and enter and theft under. He will appear in court on June 7, 2019.

Break and enter
On April 28, 2019, the Guelph Police went an Oxford Street residence for a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the garage through an unlocked side door and two bikes were taken. This occurred sometime over the previous couple of days.

Speed enforcement
On April 28, 2019, members of the Guelph Police Traffic unit were doing speed enforcement on Edinburgh Road South between the hours of 5:20 and 7:50 p.m. In total, 14 tickets were issued. This included a motor vehicle that was clocked doing 107 km/hr in the 50 km/hr zone.

The 22-year-old male driver was charged with speeding, stunt driving under the Highway Traffic Act, his drivers licence was seized for seven days, and the car impounded for seven days.

Theft from cars
On April 28, 2019, the Guelph Police received three reports of theft from cars. The locations were Victoria Road North, Macdonell Street and Fairmeadow Drive.
