On Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 at 8:56 p.m., a member of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Division conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Fife Road.

Over 80 Arrest

On Friday, Aug. 26, 2016 at 8:56 p.m., a member of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Division conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Fife Road. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed the test and was arrested.

A 29-year-old male from Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mgs, driving while under suspension and speeding. He will appear in court in September.

R.I.D.E. Arrest

On Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at 2:01 a.m., members of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Division were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Harvard Road.  Police spoke with a driver and it was determined he was a prohibited driver.  Police also made a demand for a roadside breath sample.  He failed the test and was arrested.

A 36-year-old male from Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mgs and driving while disqualified.  He will appear in court in October.

Traffic Stop

On Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at 10:18 p.m., a member of the Guelph Police Service Traffic Division conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Willow Road.  Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample.  He failed the test and was arrested.  Subsequent to his arrest,  Police located a controlled substance on his person.

A 22-year-old male from Guelph has been charged with Drive over 80 mgs, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Drive While Under Suspension, Operate Motor Vehicle on a Highway – No Current Validation on Plate and Novice Driver – BAC above zero.

Disturbance-Report of Firearm

On Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016 at approximately 2:15 a.m., Guelph Police responded to a complaint that several males were fighting at the Transit Hub on Carden Street.  Initial reports indicated that there was a handgun involved.  Members of the Guelph Police Tactics and Rescue team (TRU) quickly responded and a male was arrested. The officers seized a pellet gun on scene.

Joseph O’Kane 29 years old from Guelph was charged with Assault with a Weapon, Failure to Comply with Probation Order – 2 counts, Using a Firearm in Commission of Offence, Pointing a Firearm and Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.  He was held for a bail hearing.

Traffic Stop leads to arrest

On Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016 Guelph Police stopped a prohibited driver on Alice Street Guelph. 

The officers spoke to a male passenger in the vehicle and they could smell the odour of burnt Cannabis Marijuana coming from the male and he was arrested.  A search of the male revealed that he was in possession of a quantity of Cannabis Marijuana, Crystal Methamphetamine and a spring assisted knife and he was charged accordingly.

A 50-year-old female from Guelph driver was charged with Drive while under suspension, Possession of controlled substance and Breach Probation. She was held for a bail hearing.

A 28-year-old male passenger from Guelph was charged with Possession of controlled substance, Possession of Prohibited Weapon, Carry Concealed Weapon and two counts of Breach Undertaking.  He was held for a bail hearing.

Barricaded Male Safely Taken Into Custody

On Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016 at 6:29 a.m., the Guelph police responded to an address on Fife Road Guelph with regard to an emotionally disturbed male. Members of the Uniform Branch, Guelph Police Tactics and Rescue and Critical Incident Negotiation staff attended and made contact with the male.

The male was safely apprehended at 10:12 a.m., and taken to hospital.
