Guelph Police Service dealt with 669 calls for service over the weekend

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:  

Security guard assaulted – arrest made
On March 8, 2019 at 5:24 p.m., Guelph Police went to the Old Quebec Street Mall for the report that a security guard was struggling with a male. The incident began when security recognized the male as being trespassed from this location. When he approached him, the male shoved the guard backwards at which time a struggle ensued and the male was arrested.

Frankie Leblanc, 27 years of Guelph, has been charged with assault and breach of probation. He has also been charged with trespassing under the Trespass to Property Act. He will appear in court on April 23, 2019.

Driver arrested
On March 11, 2019 at 12:36 a.m., Guelph Police observed a motor vehicle being driven erratically on Cork Street. A traffic stop was conducted and a road side test was done with an approved screening device. A fail was indicated and the man was arrested.

Brandon Lefneski, 23 years of Guelph has been charged with operate conveyance while impaired and operate conveyance at 80 mgs or above. He will appear in court on March 26, 2019.

Break and enter
On March 10, 2019, the Guelph Police went to a Wilson Street business for a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime after March 9 at 5:30 p.m. by smashing a window. The theft of electronics and cash is reported.

Attempt break and enter
On March 9, 2019, the Guelph Police went to an Avondale Avenue residence for an attempt break and enter. The culprit(s) attempted to gain access pry doors to the home but were unsuccessful. No theft is reported.

Car windows smashed
Over the dates of March 8, 2019 and March 9, 2019 the Guelph Police received the report of car windows smashed. No theft is reported in any of these incidents. The locations were Speedvale Avenue East, Woolwich Street and two on Kathleen Street.
