Mother, daughter charged in shoplifting investigation

On Oct. 3, 2018, at approximately 4:40 p.m., Guelph Police were called to a business on Woodlawn Road in regard to a mother and daughter shoplifting.

The duo was observed (allegedly) shoplifting several items that totalled over $1,600. The daughter then left the store to retrieve the vehicle while her mother waited at the entrance. When the vehicle pulled up, the mother left the store and was approached by loss prevention. As loss prevention attempted to arrest both parties, (it is alleged that) the mother resisted arrest and her daughter sped away from the front of the store, leaving her mother behind.

As a result, Melissa Minogue, a 42-year-old London female was arrested for theft under $5,000, assault with intent to resist arrest, and breaching her Probation Order. Her daughter, Jenna Miller, a 21-year-old London female turned herself into police a short time later and was charged with theft under $5,000 and escape lawful custody.

The mother/daughter duo with appear in court on Nov. 16, 2018.
