No charges are being laid after the Guelph Police Service was called to Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute on Paisley Street due to a report of a young male carrying a firearm.

In a press release, Guelph Police Service said they recovered a black revolver-style cap gun at the school.

The young male who had the cap gun was reportedly very remorseful and was educated about the dangers of having an item that could be mistaken for a real firearm.

No threats were made, nor was the young man using the cap gun aggressively, so police have referred him to the John Howard Society instead of pressing charges.

The school was locked down at 2:10 p.m. and the lockdown was lifted at 3:28 p.m. when the cap gun and the individual carrying it were located.
