A Guelph man who allegedly assaulted his co-accused after the other male refused to lie in court is facing several criminal charges.
Last summer, the two men were jointly charged with possession of fentanyl for the purposes of trafficking after 274 grams of the drug were seized, report police.
Subsequent to that arrest, the 35-year-old pressured his co-accused to claim sole ownership of the drugs in court, threatening to kill members of the other male’s family if he did not do so. When the co-accused refused, he was punched several times in the face.
A 35-year-old Guelph male was arrested Sunday and charged with assault, uttering threats, obstructing justice and breach of a release order. He was held for a bail hearing Monday.
