Officers respond to weapons call at Mount Forest business

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH – On Sept. 14, 2020 at approximately 4:15 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a public disturbance at a business located on Main Street in Mount Forest.

It was reported that a male was inside the business, yelling and causing a scene when a second person entered, pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the individual. There was a brief exchange then both individuals left and went in opposite directions. Officers located both people shortly after the incident occurred.

One person was taken into custody and a replica handgun was seized.

Spencer Charles Lovell, 21 years old of Wellington North Township, faces the following criminal charges:       

  • Robbery with a weapon      
  • Imitation firearm - use while committing offence       
  • Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose       
  • Carrying a concealed weapon       
  • Fail to comply with undertaking x2  

The accused was held for a bail hearing.  

There were no injuries as a result of this incident.
