The Guelph Police Service is aware of a video circulating in the community which depicts the arrest of an adult male earlier this week by Guelph Police officers.
On Jan. 12, 2021, the Guelph Police Service received a request for assistance from the Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). The OPP was seeking assistance locating and arresting a male wanted by their service on a Criminal Code arrest warrant. On the same date, the male was located outside a residence by the Guelph Police Service and while attempting to arrest the male he sustained injuries.
He was treated and released from the Guelph General Hospital. The nature of the injury caused the Guelph Police Service to notify the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate. As a result, the Guelph Police Service will not be able to provide any further information.
