OPP say three arrested and facing impaired driving charges within just a few hours

Two were arrested as part of a R.I.D.E. stop, the third after a collision

The first five hours of Dec. 9, 2017 finds Wellington County rife with alleged drunk drivers. By the time day broke, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had arrested three people on impaired driving charges and was deep into an investigation of a collision that has a left a 23-year-old Elora woman fighting for her life.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., OPP had arrested a 27-year-old Stephen F. W. Timar of Milton for driving with over 80 mg of alcohol in 100mL of blood at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on the south bound lanes of the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph.

He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on Jan. 5, 2018.

Two-and-a-half-hours later at approximately 3 a.m. OPP had arrested 40-year-old Olga Maria Roque-Jarquin of Guelph for driving with over 80 mg of alcohol in 100mL of blood at a R.I.D.E. Check on the north bound lanes of the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph.

She is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on Jan. 5, 2018.

One-and-a-half-hours later at approximately 4:30 a.m., OPP had arrested 30-year-old Jeffrey C. A. McDougall of Arthur after the car he was driving crashed, requiring a 23-year-old to be air lifted to a trauma centre.

MacDougall is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Jan. 5, 2018.

Wellington County OPP would like to remind everyone to drive responsibly, adjust for road and weather conditions and never drive while your ability is impaired. If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, you can call police at 911 to report it.
