Guelph police continue to investigate after two males fled a stolen vehicle on foot Sunday evening.

Just after 8 p.m., an officer spotted a reported stolen silver Hyundai Elantra on Gordon Street near Stone Road West. Officers followed at a distance until the intersection of College Avenue West and Scottsdale Drive. When the car came to a stop at a red light, two male passengers exited and ran in opposite directions. The driver made a quick turn, narrowly missing another vehicle, and was last seen speeding east on College Avenue West. In the interest of public safety police did not pursue it.

One passenger was caught following a short foot pursuit and the second was located a short time later at a residence in the area. Two Guelph males, aged 37 and 33, are charged with occupying a stolen motor vehicle. They were released with court dates in November.

Attempts to locate the stolen Hyundai and identify the driver are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Constable Brandon Kohler at 519-824-1212, ext. 7537, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
