A Cambridge man faces an impaired driving charge following a crash early Friday morning in the parking lot of a Guelph school.

Shortly after 5 a.m. Friday, a witness reported a vehicle driving erratically in the parking lot of a school on Grange Road near Starwood Drive and colliding with a storage container. Officers arrived and found a man passed out with the vehicle still in the 'drive' position.

The man was removed from the vehicle and was unsteady on his feet, slurring his words and confused. He was arrested for impaired driving, and a search of the vehicle revealed an open bag of cannabis and contaminated smoking devices.

The man was assessed by a drug recognition expert, who concluded his ability to operate a vehicle was impaired. He refused to comply with a blood demand.

An 18-year-old Cambridge man is charged with impaired driving, refusing to comply with a demand, dangerous driving and several charges under the Cannabis Control Act.
