Pedestrian in stable condition after being struck by vehicle

On Aug. 21, 2021, at 10 a.m., the Guelph Police Service was called to the intersection of Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street North in the City of Guelph, in regards to a motor vehicle collision.

The subsequent investigation alleges an adult male was driving a motor vehicle southbound on Eramosa Road and made a right turn on to Stevenson Street North. A 59-year-old Guelph female pedestrian was crossing at the time, with the right of way. The vehicle struck the pedestrian causing serious head injuries. The pedestrian was rushed to a hospital located in the Hamilton area and is now in stable condition. Her injuries are categorized as non life threatening.

Due to the nature of the injuries at the scene, police conducted a thorough investigation utilizing a Traffic Reconstruction unit. This caused the intersection to be closed for several hours.

A 59-year-old Guelph male has been charged with careless driving cause bodily harm under the Highway Traffic Act.

He will appear in court on Dec. 15.
