ELORA – An investigation is underway into the death of a person below an Elora bridge.

Wellington OPP Cst. Josh Cunningham said the call came in around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, and when officers got on scene at the David Street bridge they found an injured person in a gorge below.

The person was removed, but pronounced dead at the scene.

"We're now assisting with the coroner's office to determine the cause of death," Cunningham said. "We are also canvassing witnesses that may be able to add information that might help our investigation."

He said it's too early to determine if the death is suspicious, as well as whether the deceased is male or female.

David Street West remains closed in the area of the bridge for the investigation.
