A Guelph male was arrested Thursday, more than four months after he was caught on video shoplifting from a local business.

On October 7, a male entered a business on Woodlawn Road West near Woolwich Street carrying an empty plastic bag and a backpack which appeared empty. He selected several items and took them into a washroom, emerging a short time later carrying the plastic bag and backpack which now both appeared full. Staff tried to stop him but he fled on a bicycle, report police.

Police reviewed the store’s security video and recognized the male, who was also on an undertaking banning him from attending the store. The male was located Thursday afternoon close to the same store and was arrested.

A 45-year-old Guelph male is charged with theft under $5,000 and failing to comply with an undertaking. He will appear in a Guelph court June 4.
