Police charge driver who was allegedly asleep at the wheel with impaired

TOWN OF ERIN - On March 25, 2020, at approximately 3:25 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a pick-up truck that was stopped in the middle of the road with the engine running and two occupants inside on the Fourth Line near Wellington Road 22.

Police located the vehicle and after several attempts were able to wake the sleeping driver. While interacting with the driver, it was obvious that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest. The driver was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing. 

Brian Ferreira, 26-years-old of Mississauga has been charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drug contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on July 28, 2020 to answer to the charge.
