Truck wasn't pursued for public safety reasons
Guelph Police Stock 2016

Guelph police continue to investigate after a minor collision Tuesday between a cruiser and a reported stolen pickup.

Just before 2 p.m., an officer was in a parking lot on Speedvale Avenue East on an unrelated matter when an orange Toyota Tacoma pulled into the lot. The officer recognized the pickup as one stolen from a neighbouring jurisdiction a couple of days earlier and attempted to stop it.

The truck hit the front of the cruiser and fled the lot. The cruiser sustained minor damage and the officer did not pursue the truck for public safety reasons.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Const. Derren Gould at 519-824-1212, ext. 7056, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
