On the evening of Saturday, March 16, 2019, two officers from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (liquor inspectors), two officers from the Guelph Fire Deptartment and three officers from Guelph Police Service, teamed up in a collaborative manner to inspect various licensed premises in the downtown core. The inspections took place from approximately 10:30 p.m. to 12:45 a.m. Establishments were inspected for Fire Code violations and violations of the Liquor Licence Act (overcrowding, excessive serving, under age drinking). A total of five licensed establishments were inspected during this time.

One establishment was found to have some minor infractions pursuant to the Fire Code. The establishment had just recently changed ownership and re-opened under new management. The fire officials chose to warn the owners and educate them on the minor infractions. Fire officials will follow up on the infractions to ensure they are corrected. There were no violations of the Liquor Licence Act in any licensed premise inspected.

More joint inspection projects are planned in the future.
