Police investigate report of stranger offering 14-year-old girl a ride home

Guelph police are investigating after a 14-year-old girl was approached by an unknown male and offered a ride home Wednesday.

Approximately 3:40 p.m. a 14-year-old girl reported she was walking near College Avenue West and Hanlon Road when she was approached by a male driving a dark blue SUV. The driver lowered his window before asking the girl where she lived and offering her a ride.

The girl didn’t respond and started running. The male followed for a short time before making a U-turn and driving away. He was described as being in his 30s with tanned skin, short greying hair, a thin build and dishevelled appearance. He was wearing a black or blue winter jacket.
