A trio of overnight fires in the past two days are being investigated as suspicious.

Police were called to Herb Markle Park on Cardigan Street at about 4 a.m. on Thursday after a passerby observed a portable washroom on fire. Officers extinguished the fire, but the washroom was destroyed, explains a Guelph Police Service news release.

Less than 30 minutes later, police noticed a dumpster on fire behind a Woodlawn Road West business, near Woolwich Street.

The third fire was reported in a dumpster along Woolwich Street, near Eramosa Road, shortly after 3 a.m. on Friday. That dumpster sat below an overhang, which sustained “some damage.”

No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.

Anyone with information about the fires is asked to call Det. Sgt. Christ Probst at 519-824-1212 ext. 7342 or email [email protected]. Details can also be left anonymously thorough Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.csgw.tips.
