Police lay racing charges in two separate incidents

The vehicles two young drivers were operating were impounded, their licenses suspended for seven days and they each face serious charges

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Oct. 6, 2017 at approximately 8:40 a.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6, near Eighth Line, Township of Centre Wellington. 

The officer observed a male driving a 1994 Volvo 960 at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 142 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

Eighteen-year-old Erik Paulovits of Grand Valley has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Nov. 15, 2017.

His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA - On Oct, 7, 2017 at approximately 12:25 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on County 124, near Eramosa Road, Township of Guelph-Eramosa. 

The officer observed a female driving a 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar at 107km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

Twenty-five-year-old Sabrina Watson of Halton Hills has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Nov. 15, 2017.

Her driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
