Guelph police are investigating after two females scrapped a pickup truck that didn’t belong to them.

On Thursday morning the owner of a business on Speedvale Avenue West called to report his pickup stolen. The male advised the truck was awaiting repairs so he had parked it at his workplace. Video on site revealed a male with a flatbed tow truck loading up the vehicle and driving away with it on Monday afternoon.

Through investigation, police determined the owner of a scrap yard had purchased the vehicle for parts from two unknown females. One of the females contacted the scrap yard and claimed she had a pickup she wished to scrap. A tow truck driver attended the business and met with the two females. After receiving the ownership, the driver handed them cash and loaded up the pickup.

The pickup has since been dismantled for parts.

The investigation is ongoing to identify the females. Anyone with information is asked to call Const. Bakir Medencevic at 519-824-1212, ext. 7235, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
