Police nab $20K in drugs following arrest of man wanted on outstanding charges

Police say drugs seized included 85 grams of purple fentanyl

A Scarborough male faces several drug charges after Guelph police seized more than $20,000 in controlled substances Saturday evening.

Shortly before 8 p.m. members of the Tactics and Rescue Unit saw a male leaving a motor vehicle and entering a townhouse unit on Auden Road near Eastview Road. Officers recognized the male and knew he was wanted by Waterloo Regional Police for assault and driving while prohibited.

Officers began watching the vehicle, and approximately 30 minutes later the male exited the residence and got into the driver’s seat. Officers approached and arrested him on the outstanding warrant.

As officers approached, the male was observed leaning across to the passenger side of the vehicle and appeared to be hiding something. The motor vehicle was searched incident to arrest and officers located a leather satchel which contained:

· 85.26 grams of purple fentanyl with a street value of $18,757.20

· 5.64 grams of black tar heroin with a street value of $1,240.80

· 1.47 grams of crack cocaine with a street value of $150.00

· 29.6 grams of dried marijuana with a street value of $260

The total value of the drugs is estimated at $20,408.

A 38-year-old Scarborough male is charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and breach of probation. He was held in custody for a bail hearing Monday.
