The Guelph Police Service received numerous calls for service over the weekend, in regard to house parties throughout the city.  With the school year just starting up, we would like to remind the students of the University of Guelph, that although we understand the desire to celebrate your return to school, it is important to respect your neighbours and their right to a peaceful night’s sleep.  Keeping the music level down and making sure your guests remain inside the residence, are two ways that you can avoid bylaw or police presence at your get together.

Numerous tickets for noise complaints, public urination, and open alcohol in public were issued over the weekend.  We would also like to remind the students that you could potentially be arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and suggest that you organize a sober driver if you plan on drinking alcohol or consuming cannabis products.

Guelph Police engage with University of Guelph athletes

On September 8th, 2019, Chief Cobey and several officers, who were former U of G varsity athletes, attended to the University of Guelph to meet with first year varsity athletes. Police encouraged student athletes to strive for excellence by building a culture of leadership through engagement with peers and members of the community. Officers also spoke to students about using resources available for support and promoted the importance of both physical and mental wellness.

Welcome to all first year students and varsity athletes. We wish you all the best throughout your tenure at the University. Stay safe! Gryphon pride!
