NEWS RELEASE
GUELPH POLICE SERVICE
***************************
On March 17, 2020, the Guelph Police Service attended 28 call for service in relation to St Patrick’s Day. City of Guelph Bylaw Compliance and Enforcement Officers attended 10 noise complaints, eight of which were for St Patrick’s Day parties. No tickets were issued. The Guelph Police Service attended to one additional noise complaint, with no tickets being issued. There were also no St Patrick’s Day related arrests.

Again we would like to thank the people of Guelph, specifically the University of Guelph community, for their restraint in celebrating St Patrick’s Day. It’s obvious that the community was taking the following direction from Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph (WDG) Public Health seriously:
    •    Stay home if you’re sick
    •    Engage in social distancing including avoiding non-essential trips in the community and limiting, postponing or cancelling gatherings

Thank you Guelph for how you handled St Patrick’s Day and your continued commitment to the following WDG Public Health tips on preventing the spread of respiratory viruses, like COVID-19:
    •    Wash your hands often with soap and water or with alcohol-based hand rub
    •    Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or sleeve
    •    Clean and disinfect high touch surfaces daily
    •    Call ahead if visiting your health care provider for infectious symptoms so they can plan to protect others from spread
