Police respond to fight, end up laying several other charges

Two males were arrested Monday after police were called to a reported disturbance and ended up recovering a stolen motor vehicle and solving a break and enter.

Approximately 10:15 a.m., police were called to a reported fight outside a residence on Marilyn Drive. While speaking to the involved parties, police discovered a baggie with a small amount of pink fentanyl.  A 28-year-old Guelph male was arrested and charged with possessing a controlled substance. He will appear in a Guelph court Sept. 21.

After officers had cleared the scene, a resident called to advise one of the involved males had returned and appeared to be looking for something. Investigation also revealed that male had tried to break into an apartment building in the area earlier in the morning.

The male was arrested for attempted break and enter. During a search incident to arrest, officers located a key to a Lexus motor vehicle which had been stolen a couple hours earlier from a business on Woolwich Street near Woodlawn Road East. The vehicle was located in a nearby parking lot. Police also located a replica handgun in the male’s backpack.

A 21-year-old Guelph male is charged with theft over $5,000, possessing stolen property over $5,000, attempt break and enter, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing Tuesday.
