Police say downtown break-in was caught on video

A Guelph man was arrested Monday after a break-in to a downtown apartment was caught on video.

Approximately 7:40 a.m. Sunday, a man was captured on surveillance video repeatedly slamming his shoulder into an apartment door until it broke open. The man entered the unoccupied apartment then quickly left the area. Damage was estimated at $500.

On Monday evening, a man was arrested by officers investigating an unrelated matter on Willow Road.

A 42-year-old Guelph man is charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling, mischief under $5,000 and breaching probation. He was held for a bail hearing Tuesday.
