Police say driver was asleep behind the wheel

The driver's license was suspended and he is facing an impaired driving charge

TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH — On Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at approximately 1 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a male asleep behind the wheel of a Dodge Caravan on Queen Street, near highway 401, Morriston.

OPP officers awoke the driver and while speaking with him formed the opinion that he was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing.

40-year-old Michael Albert Oakley of Guelph has been charged with Care or Control of Motor Vehicle While Impaired and with Care or Control of Motor Vehicle while Over 80 mgs alcohol /100 mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Aug. 11, 2017.
