A Hamilton woman faces several charges after she was found in Guelph Wednesday reportedly driving a stolen vehicle.

Shortly before 8 p.m. police were dispatched to the area of Meyer Drive and Lincoln Crescent. A witness reported a woman in a cube van yelling at pedestrians about drugs. Officers arrived and located the van, which had been reported stolen from Toronto.

The woman exited the vehicle and was observed to be unsteady on her feet. She was placed under arrest and a search of her fanny pack revealed two glass pipes and a syringe of suspected fentanyl. While in the cruiser the woman repeatedly fell asleep. She was transported to the police station where a trained officer determined her ability to operate a vehicle was impaired by a drug.

A 30-year-old Hamilton woman is charged with possessing stolen property over $5,000, occupying a stolen motor vehicle, operation while impaired, refusing to comply with a demand, driving without a licence and five counts of breaching probation. She was held for a bail hearing.
