Police say intoxicated Metrolinx rider assaulted, threatened fellow passengers

TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH - On Feb. 1, 2020 at approximately 2:45 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance on a Metrolinx Go Transit bus while it was stopped at the terminal on McLean Road in Aberfoyle. It was reported that an intoxicated rider assaulted a fellow passenger and was threatening others. 

The rider exited the bus and was attempting to board a second bus when they were arrested and taken into custody by police without incident.

No one was injured.

As a result of the investigation, Shawn Welch, 35 years old of Kitchener has been charged with assault, uttering threats and cause disturbance contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused will appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on March 6, 2020 to answer to the charges.
