Police say rideshare used to deliver drugs

She was later arrested on several drug-related charges

A Guelph woman faces several drug charges after a rideshare driver was allegedly asked to deliver controlled substances.

Earlier this month, the Guelph police learned a driver with a rideshare service was called to an address on Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue. A woman handed him a giftbag and asked him to deliver it to an address on York Road. On examination the bag was found to contain suspected hydromorphone and morphine tablets.

Last Friday, a woman was pulled over as she left an address on Woolwich Street. She was arrested, and searches incident to arrest revealed small amounts of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine and methamphetamine.

 A 53-year-old Guelph woman is charged with trafficking a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possessing a controlled substance.
