A Guelph female who is alleged to have repeatedly broke into her elderly neighbour’s apartment and stole her bank cards has been arrested. She was arrested on those charges Thursday while in custody for an online puppy scam.

Police say that in late January the victim was hospitalized following a fall. When she came home several days later her apartment had been ransacked and items including her television and wallet were missing. Police viewed video which showed a neighbour near the victim’s balcony in the middle of the night and then a short time later walking back to her own unit with a television and other items. More than $400 was later charged to the victim’s credit card at various locations.

On March 7, at approximately 1:25 a.m. the female was again caught on video entering the victim’s balcony and going inside her unit as the elderly victim slept. The victim’s wallet was stolen and later that day almost $700 was charged to her credit card.

A female was charged with the break and enters Thursday after being arrested for an unrelated puppy scam. On March 29, a Burlington female responded to an online advertisement for Boston terrier puppies, eventually sending $1,000 via electronic transfer. When the seller stopped responding to messages, the would-be buyer contacted police.

A 27-year-old female is charged with two counts of break and enter, two counts of using a stolen credit card, fraud under $5,000 and failing to comply with an undertaking. She was held for a bail hearing Friday.
