Police seek third suspect in Wednesday break-and-enter in Guelph-Eramosa

Two other suspects have been charged in connection with the incident

TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA – On April 28, 2021, at approximately 2:45 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a residence on Highway 7 near Jones Baseline, Guelph-Eramosa Township. It was reported that two males were in the residence and one was armed with a handgun. One suspect was arrested at the time of the incident and a second person of interest was taken into custody and later released unconditionally.

No one was home at the time.

Members of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed two search warrants at a residential property located on Highway 7 in relation to the break and enter. As a result a replica handgun as well as a large quantity of Canadian currency, opioids and trafficking materials were seized.

Richard Piotto, 44-years-old of Guelph-Eramosa Township has been charged with:

  • Break and enter,
  • Theft under $5000,
  • Adult possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose; and
  • Adult unauthorized possession of a firearm contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Susanne Hepburn, 46-years old Guelph-Eramosa Township has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - Oxycocet contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

 The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on June 1, 2021 to answer to the charge.

The Wellington County OPP CSCU is continuing to investigate this incident and asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect in the attached photos.
