Two Guelph residents face drug trafficking charges as a result of an ongoing investigation that led to the seizure of cocaine as well as “large quantities of cash and jewelry.”
The investigation began last fall, police said in a news release. On Wednesday, a male under investigation was seen “conducting several short meetings with known drug users” – by himself and in the company of a female.
Both were arrested just after noon in the downtown area.
Police recovered 18.9 grams of suspected cocaine, a digital scale and $400 in cash during a search at the time of arrest. A subsequent search of a residence near the downtown revealed more than $21,000 in cash and more than $30,000 in jewelry – all of which were seized as offence-related property.
A 37-year-old Guelph man and a 42-year-old Guelph woman are jointly charged with possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
