A Hamilton couple face fraud charges after ordering tires from a Guelph business.

On Tuesday, an east end business was contacted by telephone by a woman looking to purchase eight tires. The woman used a credit card to pay more than $3,700 for the tires and was told they would be ready to be picked up Wednesday. The business subsequently was contacted by the true owner of the card, who advised the purchase was fraudulent.

The suspects were detained by Guelph Police Service officers as they arrived Wednesday to collect the tires.

A 37-year-old Hamilton man and 30-year-old Hamilton woman are each charged with fraud under $5,000.
