Police are reminding residents to use caution when meeting with strangers after a male reportedly had his expensive cell phone stolen Sunday evening.

Approximately 6:30 p.m. the victim and an unknown male met at a park on Starwood Drive near Eastview Road. The victim was selling an iPhone 13 Pro and met the male for the purpose of facilitating the sale. The male was handed the phone to examine it, but instead got up and ran into a nearby wooded area.

The victim chased him a short distance but could not locate the suspect, who was described as a teenager approximately six feet tall with brown skin and a thin build. He was wearing a bright blue hoodie, a black winter jacket and a blue medical mask. The cellphone was valued at approximately $1,500.

The theft is under investigation.
