Prohibited Toronto driver arrested after passing ‘road closed’ sign

Guelph police laid several charges against a 40-year-old Toronto man on Saturday, after he reportedly drove past a “road closed” sign.

The incident happened at about 12:25 p.m. in the area of York Road and Toronto Street.

After stopping the vehicle, police discovered the driver is prohibited from getting behind the wheel due to previous impaired driving convictions and unpaid fines.

The accused is charged with driving while prohibited under the Criminal Code, as well as driving while suspended under the Highway Traffic Act.
