Purse theft leads to charge for Fergus woman

A 34-year-old Fergus woman faces a theft charge after a purse was stolen in a downtown Guelph building on Wednesday evening. 

As explained in a police news release, a woman set her purse on the ground while she searched for keys to her unit in the residential building. Another woman then took the victim’s purse and ran into an adjacent unit.

Police made an arrest soon after.

The accused is charged with theft under $5,000.
