A Guelph male attracted more attention than he intended when he removed a handgun from his backpack Monday evening to prove he hadn’t shoplifted. The gun was determined to be a realistic-looking BB gun.
Guelph police report they were called shortly before 8 p.m. to a business on Silvercreek Parkway North near Willow Road. A male was exiting the store when the security system sounded. To prove he hadn’t stolen anything, the male began emptying his backpack including the black gun.
Officers located the male inside another nearby business. He was provided advice and agreed to hand over the BB gun for destruction. No charges were laid.
