Report of possible impaired driver nets charge for Guelph resident

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Aug. 21, 2021, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the parking lot of an eating establishment on Tower Street South in Fergus.

Officers located the vehicle and while speaking with the driver, signs of impairment were observed and they were placed under arrest.

As a result, Jodi Vanessa Hopkins, 34 years old of Guelph has been charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on Sept. 21, 2021 to answer to the charge.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
