R.I.D.E. check results in impaired charge

CITY OF GUELPH - On May 13, 2018 at approximately 2:30 a.m. OPP officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on the Hanlon Expressway, City of Guelph. A male entered the R.I.D.E program.

While speaking with the driver, officers detected signs of alcohol consumption and impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to a local detachment for testing.

22-year-old Brady Lapointe of Guelph has been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, Novice Driver with B.A.C above zero, Fail to Surrender Licence, Fail to Surrender Permit, Fail to surrender Insurance Card.

He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on June 5, 2018 to answer to the charges. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.
