RIDE checks net five impaired charges: OPP

On Nov. 23, 2019 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on the Hanlon Expressway in the City of Guelph. At approximately 1:00 a.m. the driver of a passenger vehicle entered the R.I.D.E. check.

Officers formed the opinion that the driver had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. They were arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Tyler William Ballantyne, 36-years-old of Guelph, has been charged with impaired operation and impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on Dec. 24, 2019.

Officers formed the opinion that the driver had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. They were arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Jonathan Cadang, 23-years-old of Cambridge, has been charged with impaired operation - 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on Dec. 24, 2019.

Officers formed the opinion that the driver had been consuming alcohol. A Roadside Screening Test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. They were arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Timothy Mills, 51-years-old of Hamilton, has been charged with impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on Jan. 3, 2020.

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON - On Nov. 28, 2019 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Wellington Road 7, Elora. At approximately 11:00 p.m. the driver of a sport utility vehicle entered the R.I.D.E. check.

Officers formed the opinion that the driver had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. They were arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing. The driver was also found to be in possession of what investigators believed was cocaine.

As a result of the investigation, Timothy Ryan Strub, 39-years-old of Guelph, has been charged with impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) and possession of cocaine. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on Jan. 3, 2020.

At approximately 11:00 p.m. the driver of a grey sport utility vehicle entered the R.I.D.E. check.

Officers formed the opinion that the driver had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. They were arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Margaret Alexia Pickard, 32-years-old of Nichol Twp, has been charged with impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on Jan. 3, 2020.
