******************************
On the 31st of August at approximately 2:45 a.m., police observed a vehicle parked in the downtown area, with multiple males dancing on the roof. As officers were approaching the vehicle, it began to reverse out of its parking spot with one of the passengers hanging out of the rear passenger window.

Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop, at which time the vehicle accelerated away from police at a high rate of speed in an area which had a high volume of both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The vehicle eventually came to a stop and the 20-year-old male from Orangeville was arrested for dangerous operation.

Officers could smell the odour of alcohol on the male’s breath, so a roadside device was used on the driver, which registered a fail. The driver was additionally charged with impaired operation.

He was subsequently released on a Promise to Appear with a court date of Oct. 11, 2019.
